Installshield issues

i'm posting this up because i was wondering if i could get some help with a problem i've been having with my Installshield Wizard. a little while ago i wanted to install Steam onto my computer and when i did i got a strange message that said the installation could not continue because another installation was in progress and had to be finished. i left that alone then and forgot about it, but now i got a copy of Doom 3 and was trying to install it when i got the message: "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime" then i tried exploring the Doom 3 and running the InstallShield Scripting file directly and got this message: "Error 1500.Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one."
can anyone please help?
