I cant get past that screen when i tried to repair my computer!!
Please help, i have to fix my computer, it has a bsod 0x00000024
i did not back up my data so reformatting is a last option...
i really need assistance on this.

With knoppix you can burn the data you want to a CD. If you cannot get to the hard drive with knoppix, the only option is using a company that will get the data at a very expensive price.

There are companys like these that do recovery. You really need to ask them the process of their recovery. Many do no more than you can do yourself. Usually the more expensive company's guarantee data recovery.

Do NOT choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".
Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair.

You may try to slave your hard drive in another computer to recover data.

On the other hand, if everything goes well, Windows repair install should leave your data untouched.
