Hello, i just started my new rig and internet explorer is asking me to chose a default search provider. Is this like my homepage or something? I have no idea. Current Default is "live search". What should i do here? thanks for your time...

Browser's search provider is an engine, you use to perform searches on-line.
Micro$oft Live Search is one example. Google, Yahoo, etc., are other search engines.
Select one you want to use. You can change it at any time, by going Tools>Internet Options:
