I am currently attending college and I am using their internet connection to connect to Xbox Live.

I run a Ethernet cord from my dorm's wall to my Xbox 360.
[Wall --------------------------------------------------------- Xbox 360]

I have been able to connect to Xbox Live, but when running the network tests, my NAT is strict.

However, while I am playing I sometimes try to connect to people and receive error messages.

I have tried everything to get connected to my friends.

Now my question...

If I was to buy a router, and hook it up in my dorm, would I be able to setup the router to an open NAT?
