Hi.Ive been having this problem for about two weeks now. I originally thought it was a malware problem but I've been given a clean bill of health from transience over on the malware removal forum, http://www.geekstogo...-....html&st=15 .

The error message seem to be random and not linked to anything inparticular that I'm doing. It says:
Windows has encountered a critical occur and will automatically shut down in one minute. Please save any work.

Then the computer restarts. Sometimes another message comes up just before this and says:
Service and Controller apps has stopped working
This only occurs sometimes but is always followed by the original message.

Any help with this would be great. Thanks

Oh, boy..in that case, we have to start somewhere else.
Did you try System Restore to some time from before two weeks?

Yeh..and I had no restore points available to me. Transience over on the malware forum tried a few different things while we were trying to clean it up.the link is in the first post if you want to have a look over what he's tried already.

I assume so...when I tried system restore there were no restore points.
Any ideas on what I could do or what it could be thats wrong?
Transience tried a few things with me while trying to clean the system but I'm still having the same problem, so he directed me to this forum.

Go Start>Run (Start Search in Vista), type in:
msconfig
Click OK (hit Enter in Vista).

Click on Startup tab.
Click Disable all

Click Services tab.
Put checkmark in Hide all Microsoft services
Click Disable all.

Click OK.
Restart computer in Normal Mode.

Run computer for a few hours, and see, if shutdown still occurs.
