When I set up my icons on my desk top the way I want them things are ok. When I shut down and restart the icons are moved to one the left hand side of the desk top. If i right click the desk top and look at the arrange icons the align grid is checked. Is there something in msconfig that is causing the change on shut down and start up?
Thanks for any help.

Delete IconCache.db file from C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ USERNAME\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA
It'll be rebuilt on restart.

the align grid is checked.

Howdy and welcome to GTG:

That's the problem. If you want to align the icons yourself, uncheck that as well. Apply the change and close out.
