so i have a laptop with pcie x1 slot inside it which is occupied with wireless card. since i don't use wireless often would it be possible to put something else in that slot? it's amilo la1703. I would like a better graphics adapter.

best bet since it is a laptop would be to contact the manufacturer as laptops are not standard with most things so you would have to find out what would fit. Most likely since it is a laptop you are stuck with whatever video you bought on it.....

You can put only slow devices into PCI-E 1x slot: sound card, debug card, network card, turner card, slow video card
Transfer rates:
AGP 4x = 1.1GB/sec
AGP 8x = 2.2GB/sec
PCI-E 1x = 250MB/sec
PCI-E 16x = 4GB/s
PCI-E 2.0 = 8GB/s

more importantly is that this is a laptop so you have to make sure there is room to fit you can't just use any card

well size is not the issue i could just lead the connector out of the case and use it externally.
