Im sure i have a virus called "antivirus pro 2009" and now my comp is showing all black screen in normal mode and in safe mode, only difference is that safe mode says safe mode in white in each corner and something across the top. i have heard that i need to reinstall my windows XP is this true?? is this the first step I need to take before trying to deal with the virus? i will need help with this mostly because i know very little about computers.

Thanx a lot!

Welcome to GTG.

So it's just a blank screen with no icons now? Restart the computer and tap the F5 or F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up. Then choose last known good configuration to see if that can bring Windows up properly.
