Hi-

I have been plagued by Bman.exe and Bman1.exe running on my machine as well as something that causes search123.com to come up with search results when I type a search into google.

I have followed all preliminary steps and am still having trouble. Below is my hijack log.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Eric

We can definitely help you, but first you need to help us. The first step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Unzip it to the desktop.

* Please run Killbox.

Ok-

I followed all of your steps.

I could not get Panda Active Scan to work, it hung for over 2 hours trying to download the Active X controls to do the scan, there was a javascript on the page though.

I also left the hijack line for the Party Poker button on Internet Explorer because I use it.

Otherwise, BMan seems to be gone, which is great.

Here is the new hijack log:

The good news is that the Smitfraud infection IS gone now! :tazz:

I need you to do a virus scan still though. You still have a few 'random' viruses. Dno't panic if your anti-virus never caught them. No one program catches everything.

Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
  • Install ewido security suite
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
  • The program will now go to the main screen
You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
    • Binder
    • Crypter
    • Archives
  • Click on Start Scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
*this program is GREAT! I personally use it, as well!

After you scan with it, make a reply here with a fresh HJT log, and a copy of the FULL Ewido log!

We're almost there! :tazz: Just a bit more, ok? Your Ewido scan results show that it removed part of a Q00logic infection. I am sure there may still be some leftovers from this hidden, so:

Download FindQoologic from here
Extract (unzip) the files inside into their own folder called FindQoologic.
Open the FindQoologic folder. Preferable to your desktop.
Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it.
wait until a text opens, post it in a reply to your thread.

Once I see the reply, we can kill off anything left, and you should be set!

Here is the last hijack log. Ewido still picks up infected files on each reboot though, and while I tell it to clean, it seems to still find it each reboot.

Download and Install Spybot S&D, accepting the Default Settings
(Please ensure you have version 1.3 final.)
Home - The home of Spybot-S&D!: http://www.safer-networking.org/
Here is a nice Tutorial http://www.safer-net...p?page=tutorial
  • Go to Start > Programs >Spybot Search & Destroy and choose 'Spybot S&D'
  • Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D
  • Click the button 'Search for Updates' and download and install the Updates.
  • Next click the button 'Check for Problems'

  • Make sure there is a check mark beside the RED entries ONLY.
  • Choose Fix Selected Problems and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.
  • REBOOT
Please download the latest version of Ad-aware(Ad-aware SE 1.05) If you're using an older version (or don’t have AdAware yet), download Ad-aware SE Personal 1.05 and install it.

Before scanning with Ad-aware SE Free:
Run a FULL adaware scan using the following configuration below
  • Update
    • Select Check for updates.
    • Then Connect and download the newest update .
  • Click Start
  • Select Perform Full System Scan and hit Next to let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
  • It will list malware files and registry keys. Click Next.
  • Under the Critical Objects tab, rightclick in the list, choose Select All, then Next.
  • It will ask for verification of checked items-. Choose OK.
  • Close Ad-Aware, Shut down and reboot your system.
Let me know how things are running after you do both of the above! :tazz:
