a blue screen keeps flashing for a few seconds then it reboots my computer, please can someone tell me how to fix it! do i have to erase all my applications on my laptop?

this is what it says on the blue screen! (below)

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your compyter.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer, if this screen appears again follow these steps.

Check to make sure any new hard drive or software is properly installed. if this is a new installation, ask your hard ware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOs memory options such as Caching and Shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced start up options, and then select Safe mode.

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x000000D7 (0x0000000D, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF7E2F146)

*** W29n51.sys - Address F7E2F146 base at F7DC000, Date stamp 41830De7

It seems like your Wireless LAN adapter has crashes your system.

Bug Check 0xD7: DRIVER_UNMAPPING_INVALID_VIEW
The DRIVER_UNMAPPING_INVALID_VIEW bug check has a value of 0x000000D7. This indicates a driver is trying to unmap an address that was not mapped.

By the way, Bug Check 0XD7 should not lead to DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I am not sure how it crash and why it crash,
but you might try to boot in safe mode and backup all your important file.

Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.

How did you back up your data, since your computer keeps restarting?
Does same thing happen in Safe Mode?

You may have couple of issues.
Firstly, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error happens, in most cases, when you deal with overheating, or bad RAM.
You may test RAM with memtest, first: http://www.techspot....topic62524.html

It looks also, like you have problems with some system files.
Do you have Vista DVD?

Test RAM, first.
If that checks out, try Windows repair: http://www.michaelst...pairinstall.htm

ok i did memtest86 with 8 passes and no errors.
i also rechecked the stop error information and i realized i typed the wrong technical information, it actually says

*** STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x0000000D, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xF7E2F146)

does that mean i still run windows repair?

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software. Technically, this error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high. (A kernel-mode process can access only other processes that have an IRQL lower than, or equal to, its own.)

In this case for typically read always'

These messages oten come with a fairly hefty clue in the message in your case W29n51.sys
you need to update or remove this after having found out what it's for.

If you Google for W29n51.sys you should find your answer and downloads of version of the file that don't cause overflows.

Well, if you can't access any mode, it looks like Windows repair is your best option.
