I keep getting the message "Internet Explorer has experienced a problem and needs to close" window. This has been happening several times a day. Sometimes it locks the computer up and sometimes not. Usually it is just this message without much detail, but I have gotten one that said there was a problem with McAfee. Just now I got one saying that DrWatson Postmortem Debugger experienced and error and needed to close. Please Help.

I have had a few other problems recently. One odd one is that I had norton antivirus. Every couple of weeks it would just quit running. The files were there, but when you clicked on it nothing happened. The auto protect would not run. Each time I would uninstall and reinstall it. I was downloading the free version from att yahoo. The last time it happened was about a week or two ago. When I went to download norton again they did not have it. Now they have McAfee. So I downloaded it. This new problem just started about four days ago. I don't know if the problems are related or not. It is very anoying though.

I am using windows internet explorer ver 6

I see couple of possibilities. They may be connected, or not.
Since your Norton kept quitting, there is a chance, your computer is infected.
On the other hand, Norton (and this applies to McAfee, as well) is a very lousy security program, often causing problems.
Then, if you uninstalled it just through Add\Remove, I can assure you, tons of leftovers are flying across your computer.

For starters...
I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
