Hello Forum Members:

I hope you can help me please. I am having problems with one of my websites.

My website at http://www.publicrecordsbank.com opens displaying the latter half of the website (footer) instead of the norm (header).

This is so strange!

Can anyone please diagnose the problem? Thank you so much.

If you have or suspect you have been sacked tell the provider to put back the previous days back ups, not important for the software but you need the database to be in an operable condition.

Just had a look and it seems ok to me, I know I havn't seen it prior to this but it doesn't look out of place.

Thank you Cyclic!

When you clicked on the url, did it take you to the top of the webpage or to the bottom half?

It takes me to the bottom half, and one thing I noticed is that the first link on the bottom (the ones that take you to the home page, FAQ, etc.) was purple, as if I'd clicked on it before. It's almost like the home page URL has a bookmark associated with it that makes the site open on the bottom of the page instead of at the top.

Hi Sari:

Yes....I can't figure out why it takes the visitor to the bottom half. I've just noticed also that if you look to the bottom at the far left corner above your Windows "Start" command, there is a phrase that says "Read i2.ytimg.com".

I don't understand!

This site works in Internet Explorer - it's only Firefox that it goes to the bottom, and only Firefox that has the "Read i2.ytimg.com" message (which has to do with the Youtube video). I also notice in Firefox that there's a small square on the bottom left corner of the page - looking at your source, I'm wondering if it has to do with the Java script that's at the very bottom of the page.

Wow...thanks Sari!

My web browser is Firefox....I didn't think about viewing the site in Windows Explorer.

I will get rid of the javascript and hopefully the problem for Firefox users will go away.

I use Firefox and had no problem loading page with or without JavaScript turned on to the top. After turning on JS, I got a popup warning which I did not turn on as I hate sites that use popups.

Either you got it fixed or you have an Option setting or add-on in FF interfering with your page load. I would suggest fixing these HTML Errors (104 Errors, 18 warnings). Errors are serious. Browsers can not parse your pages the same when they have to "guess" at what you intend your page to look like. Firefox adheres to HTML 4.01 Web Standards and is the only browser that comes closest to being fully compliant with CSS 2.1. Internet Explorer parses sloppy code which is why every one loves it so.

If you want to check what your pages look like in every browser available, use Browser Compatibility, Cross Platform Browser Test.

You're welcome. You are using a HTML 4.01 Transitional DocType which gives you a lot of latitude in using deprecated tags and tables for page layout. Some day you might wish you had tighten up the coding and moved onto HTML 4.01 Strict or XHTML 1.0 Transitional at least. Especially dumped the table tags for proper CSS/Div layout. Good luck.

Thank you so much for the tips Ron.

This website is growing daily as I add content. My goal is to target every county and city within the U.S. so it will be a huge website.

I believe I will take your advise and purchase a simple and clean CSS/Div template and rid myself of all of these errors and warnings.
