Hi kaylaw1964 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums. Your system has what we call an About:Blank infection

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

2. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

3. Please DELETE your current HJT program from your Desktop.

4. I want you to download and run a free trial version of an anti-trojan program called : Trojan Hunter . Let it scan your whole system and remove anything it finds.

REBOOT
your system.

5. Download the most current version of Hijackthis (v.1.99.1) to a folder of its own. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

A. Please click on the "My Computer" icon, then the C: drive icon. Next Right click on the desktop and choose NEW from the list available then> Folder' and name the folder 'HijackThis'. The end result should resemble something like this C:\HijackThis\

B. Download Hijackthis from:HERE

C. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

D. Close ALL windows except HJT

E. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

F. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi kaylaw,

1. I would also like you to download and run a free trial version of an anti-trojan program called Trojan Hunter: Trojan Hunter . Let it scan your whole system and remove anything it finds.

REBOOT
your system.

2. I want you to run at least one, and preferably both, of the following FREE online antivirus scanners, making sure that you choose to do a "complete scan" and letting the program fix everything it finds. It is also necessary to REBOOT your system after running each program.

TrendMicro Free Virus Scanner and Panda Software Online Virus Scanner.

Thanks a lot Trevuren,
Here is the new HJT log. Incidentally, since i used the other hunters you advised, my anti-virus...Norman, now picks up the nail.exe and the oomibdxmkva.exe and puts them in quarantine, they just keep coming back. I believe we are making progress with that though. Again thanks and GOD Bless

Hi kaylaw,

Before I proceed with my suggestions to fix your system I am hoping you can shed some light on one piece of information.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Messenger 32] noini

As you can see I have written "noini" in bold. This appears throughout your log and associated with some important programs. Do you know what it is? Is it part of or was added to your system?

Any info on this matter will help

Regards,

Trevuren

Thanks again.
I think the noini might be because i disabled the msnger, i thought it was to do with MSN messenger. Other than that, i have no clue. If it does not hurt anything we can leave them for now. Looking forward to your reply.

Hi kaylaw

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

There are so many entries that are not even in our databases that I must proceed with GREAT caution. Do the following before doing anything else:

A. I need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on Tools, Settings.
In the left pane, click on Real-time Protection.
Under Startup Options uncheck: Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
Under Real-time spyware threat protection uncheck: Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
After you uncheck these, click on the Save button and close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Right click on the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar and select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.

B. Disable SpySweeper:

Open it click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
Over to the left click "shields" and uncheck all there.
Uncheck "home page shield".
Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the repairs. There will be stuff left that I will have to remove later but I must proceed with cautiion.

1. Download and install Cleanup from: HERE. Extract it from the zip file to your desktop. Install the application accepting the defaults. DO NOT RUN IT UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED

2. Download and install a 14-day free version of Ewido Security Suite from:HERE. Update its definitions. DO NOT RUN UNTIL SO INSTRUCTED.

3. REBOOT into Safe MODE

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

4. Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

Thanks for the mail...incidentally, i do not have microsoft antispyware installed. I tried to install it and kept getting an error. Should i follow the rest of the clean up process you suggested? Please let me know.

Hi kaylaw,

Parts of the program remain in the registry. Continue with the suggested fix. If it doesn't work, we will try and remove the parts that were installed then do the fix again. We may be OK.

Hello there,
just did the suggested fix, now the computer will not start. It gets to the welcome page and once i hit creed records, it acts like it is about to load mt settings, but it then starts tosay "saving settings" and does not go past there. I even tried to reboot in safe mode to no avail....please tell me what to do.
Thanks and GOD Bless
