Hello, and thank you for reading this. When I first purchased my computer, my Internet was working fine, and I had no problems with the links. However, about a year prior to owning the computer, the links started to malfunction. I assume that there is something wrong with the Java Script? When I click on a link on a site such as Pogo, or for a better example, when I attempt to insert a smilie, the link just doesn't work, as when I click on th smilie to insert it, nothing happens, and at the bottom of my screen, in the tan web address display bar, it says

"java script:emoticon(':tazz:')"

This problem is very frustrating, as it not only occurs on this website, but many others. Also, when I attempt to go to another website, such as a hypothetical technical support website for a product such as Emachines, it loads the web page, but displays nothing. In the "web address display" bar at the bottom, it claims that it is "Done.". Please help me if you can. I am open to any and all suggestions!!

Thank You in Advance,
-Gared

Welcome azuca138753 and Thank for turning to us today for advice on this issue.

The most common cause of links not opening in a new window is an incorrect version of oleaut32.dll.

Oleaut32.dll is located in the Windows\System32 folder.

Right click on oleaut32.dll and select Properties.

Select the version tab.

What version does it show?

What version of Internet Explorer are you using?

Try an IE repair.
Start, Run, msinfo32, Ok, Tools, Internet Explorer Repair Tool.

Altenatively Go to Start and Run.
Then Type or copy this to the Run Box:
regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
Click on OK.

You should see a message, oleaut32.dll
DllRegisterServer succeeded.

Let me know if this resolves that or not: Thanks

I'm sorry to report that, no, this did not solve my problem. However, I did retrieve the version of oleaut32.dll. It is:

5.1.2600.2180

Is this correct or incorrect?
What should I do from here?

Thanks In advance,
Gared

Thank you for this link. However, when I attempt to download the script, my windows blocks it because it has a "digital signature". How do I unblock/fix this?

Thank you in advance,
Gared

Blocks a MS download? What are your security settings.

In IE, TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > SECURITY

Click DEFAULT button

Also, while there, check PRIVACY and hit DEFAULT.

Close IE, restart it.
