Have tried to install active directory on Server 2000
I Get the error message failed to create gpo for the domain
tlc.home .com ? any ideas

How are you trying to install active directory? Have you tried dcpromo?

No just from configure your computer - install ad

Make sure to click "Start", "Run" and type dcpromo to make the pc a "Domain Controller". That should install Active Directory.

I'm not sure on what to do then, because as far as I know the very first thing you have to do to migrate to a domain is run dcpromo to promote the pc to a "Domain Controller". Are you able to reformat and try fresh?
