I am upgrading all my current server hardware. Im moving them onto different hardware but Im also moving from vmware server to vmware ESXi. I have 2 DC's, SQL, Exchange and file shares. From my research I cannot just shut the machine down and bring up a copy of it on the new server.
In my one test this broke Active Directory in a bad way.
I need all the servers to maintain the same names on the network. Has anyone had experience upgrading server hardware and can I get some tips. Ive been reading articles all week and I just dont feel comfortable with the move, but I need to get it done, my main file share has less than 1GB of free space.
