So, i just installed Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 32 bit into my Acer laptop. Everything is working fine it's just that, like the title says, i can't update nor download any MS programs (ex: IE 8, Zune, Visual Studio). When i try to update, it says "Windows Could Not Search For New Updates, Error found: Code 80244019". Then when i try to download the MS programs, it always tells me "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I've read other suggestions, like to change the LAN settings, and that didnt help either. So i was guessing that Geeks to Go will know how to help me. So yeah, thanks in advance!! :)

litRE: Windows Update error code 80244019
Hello Muro,

Windows Defender

Are you getting the regular monthly sets of security updates, including the
Malicious Software Removal Tool, for example?

Go ahead and download\update from here

<http://www.microsoft...ecurity/portal>

Go to the Microsoft address specified, and in the right column, download the
32-bit definitions.

Yours is the second query in recent days with this same version number--so I
think there may have been a problem.

Putting in the definitions from the security portal should solve the problem.

This may get you there faster.

Hi guys, I was the other query with the same problem.

Don't want to spoil your day but I tried everything that people suggested (incl MS assistants) without success.
I could not find a solution and finally settled for a complete re-instal of Vista HP and all is working again.

Hope you have better luck and find a quicker fix.

:)
