Question about graphics cards ?

Hi all,
I know this sub forum is about games but i thought there is no better place to ask a graphics card question than the forum where the gamers are ! !

4gb ram -
Q6600 cpu-
750 watt psu-

At present, i only have a BFG OC geforce 8600GTS (256mb DDR3).

My ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard has two x16 pci -e lanes.

Would i be better gettin another 8600GTS and run them side by side, , or would i better off with a single 8800 card.

Or, , what about adding say one of the new HD cards against either of these scenarios ? ?

My monitor is an 18" dell at 1280 x 1024 but i may very well be getting either a 20" or 22" monitor in the very near future.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, , thanks, kev
