i have samsung dvd writer which is giving me problems lately.how can i diagnose what's the problem?
error it shows is non compatible medium even while burning on a blank dvd.

Try a different brand of disc as some dvd-writers are 'fussy' about which brands of blank discs it will work with.

Also, if it's not a multi-format writer, make sure you're using the correct type of disc. There are two standards, DVD-R and DVD+R
Most new drives can use either standard, but some older drives can use only one of those two.

thanx ...i'll try doing that.funny thing is it's absolutely fine while writing CD's...it's DVD's it has a problem with.
i'll try to use some other brand DVD.
