I have A Sony DRU 840-A DVD+R burner, and it keeps on opening up on its own, ...than il close it an it opesn up again, it doesnt close on its own though, only when i hit the button..... i Switched its location it its bay (which is def the reason why its not working because it was perfectly fine before). I didnt remove any of the wires, and ive checked the cables about 10 times stil no go. Ive disconnected the cables an plugged them back in, and still nothing....what happened here?

edit:

I just checked Device Manager and its in there saying its working properly..

the DVD tray opens as soon as I hit the power button, so its definitely not a Spyware/Adware problem and Ive scanned my PC with AVG Pro aswell ..it has to be the connection, but I have it in tight! which is what im not understanding

Device Manager wouldn't know anything about a problem like this anyway, so don't read too much into that.

Check that the tray is going all the way in and nothing is fouling it. Otherwise it won't be able to 'latch' properly in the closed position.
Also, strange as it may seem, coincidences do happen. The drive may have gone faulty just at the time when you moved it.
When the tray won't stay shut it's almost always down to a faulty unit. Trying a different drive will help to confirm this.

I have 2 Bays for 2 drives, my factory drive broke so I bought this Sony one about 5 months ago and it worked right after i installed it. I'm getting another DVD burner this week so i wanted to remove the old dead one, when I was removing it i thought I did something to the wires. I have a 1-year warranty for the burner, but I dont have my store receipt still so I don't think its any good. Ill post back when I get my new Burner.
