Hello all,

You might remember me from my previous thread regarding "Virtumonde / Vundo infection".
Well Virtumonde / Vundo is gone, all thanks to sage5. But i think it left me a little gift.
I can't get to the updates portion of "Windows Update", I've tried going through Start > All Programs > Windows Update and Through IE6's Tools > Windows update...
After I select one of them IE will load the windows update page, it briefly states "Checking if your computer has the latest version of..." and then quickcly jumps to a page stating:

The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services is not running:
Automatic Updates (allows the site to find, download and install high-priority updates for your computer)
Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) (helps updates download more quickly and without problems if the download process is interrupted)
Event Log (keeps a record of updating activities to help with troubleshooting, if needed)

I've gone through Services.msc to check that they are active (Started) and the are. I've stopped and started all but the Event Log service (grayed out).
None of these have solved my problems. I googled it some and on another site someone stated that vundo could cause this but did not elaborate.
Can anyone give me a heads up to the problem?

Here's my system specs:
Windows XP SP3
Symantec End-Point Corporate Edition (This has blocked windows update before but disabling the service worked fine, in the past)
Spybot S&D

Regards,
-Timo

Download Dial-a-Fix from the link in my list of programs below, unzip the folder and click on dial-a-fix.exe. Check Fix Window Updates and click Go.
