Immediate symptoms are that winpatrol detected a new vewrsion of winlogon.exe, asked me if it was ok to change the startup programs. I saw that the publisher was microsoft so reckoned it was ok, and allowed it.

Since then, ie most often freezes, and has to be deleted via task manager. I tried to run a scan via the symantec website, but it got partway through and froze, having said there were 2 viruses. My kaspersky 2009 gets part way through a full scan and sits there on a random file using cpu and disk i/o

Firefox works ok, but symantecs virus checker insists on IE.

I have taken a hijack this log and attach it

Any help gratefully received

regards
