CD burner not working after system restore

a couple months ago i had a serious virus so i had to do a complete system restore. ever since then my cd-rw drive wont read blank disks. when i restart and try it again, it will read the first time i put in a cd-r and then itunes will start to burn it for about 5 seconds and fail. and when i try again it wont read the disk at all. i never had a problem with it before the restore. please help!!!
