The Sims Deluxe crashes during live mode

So, I installed this game on my laptop, which plays all sorts of games without any problems at all, and everything installs and runs smoothly until I go into live mode and everything suddenly just closes and it goes back to my desktop. I can't find a logical answer for this and I'd really like to play. Thanks in advance!
