The blue screen appears briefly and then the computer re-boots. Is there any way to slow it down, so I can read the stop code? It will not even boot in Safe Mode.

Edit: I took a picture of the screen and could make out 0 x 000000ED (0x81B03BAQ, 0 x C0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

My XP CD's are in storage, so I hope there is a solution.

Thanks,

If the bit you didn't manage too see was "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185

This often indicates hard drive failure too, but I'm not saying it's true in your case as most error messages have more than one possible cause.
But in your shoes I would test the hard drive to check out that possibility. Ascertain the manufacturer of the hard drive and download the diagnostic tool from their website. The download will be either for for creating a bootable floppy or a bootable cd depending on which version you need (for example, many laptops don't have a floppy drive).

I finally moved, but could not find my original disk. :)

Can I try to re-install XP from a work copy?
