What are the possible problems when the monitor won't pick up a signal from the computer? I checked to see if it was the monitor by trying a different one. Also, the led light on the video card is green so I think that means it is working. It is a 9800 gtx and has some sort of 2pin connector seems like a motherboard connector? Take note that this computer is freshly built and haven't even gotten able to put an o/s on it.

Did you plug in the extra power on the 9800? You mentioned a two pin connector on the card, that is most likely the plug for the cards extra power source. The card you purchased should have come with some adaptors. You may want to ensure you have enough power going to the card as well.

Other things to check:

Check to make sure that your mobos bios are set to display graphics from the PCI-e slot and not onboard video.

Move your vga/monitor cable to the other video card output.
