Whenever I start up windows i get the message 'Error Loading C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll The specified module could not be found.' I also get a message saying 'Windows cannot find 'C:\WINDOWS\istinstall_si.exe'.

CWShredder is the first to run. Here's why: If a CoolWebSearch variant is indeed running on your system, it may actually prevent you from running spyware scans. It is smart enough to detect efforts to detect it, and stop them. Download CWShredder to your desktop or other location. I downloaded and ran CWShredder, but after I click on Fix, the program closes after a few seconds. When I tried opening it again it said that I have a variant of the Coolwebsearch trojan (CWS.Smartsearch.2), and tries running with a random string of text in the title bar, but it still closes after a few seconds.

Yea this is going to be a tough one. Were you able to run Spybot S&D and ad aware? You may not be able to because of CWS.Smartsearch.

When you run Ad-Aware do this:

After installing AAW, and before running the program, you must FIRST update the reference file following these instuctions. (and you must always do this before you run the program at any later date).

Now do the following:

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Scanning Engine:
check: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Under Ad-aware 6 > Settings (Gear at the top) > Tweaks > Cleaning Engine:
Check: "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Press "Scan Now"

- Check option "Use Custom scanning options"
- Check option "Activate In-Depth Scan"
- Press "Select drives\folders to scan"
- Select the active partition which is usually C:

Now press "Next" to let Ad-aware scan your drives. It will find a number of spyware files and registry keys. Right-click in that pane and choose "select all"

Now press "Next" again. It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.

Finally, close Ad-Aware, and reboot.

I did what you said and the error messages seem to be gone now!! Everything seems to be working pretty normally, except that I cant run windows media player. When I try to I get a message saying that Norton AntiVirus had detected and removed a virus, C:\WINDOWS\~GLH0000.TMP.
