I am running XP on a Dell XPS710. I use a Dell 1600 all-in-one printer. Every few weeks, I have to reinstall the printer in order for it to work with the XPS. The printer also serves my Dell notebook, which has never required a reinstall and works perfectly. I would appreciate ideas for fixing this. Thanks.

Are both computers running same update version of XP (ie the same service pack)?
Service packs often fix things like this and your main PC may be lagging behind your laptop in this respect.
Alternatively, a driver or application on your main PC (which isn't on your laptop) may be conflicting with the printer driver.
