Windows XP Operating systems

IMMEDIATELY after Service Pack 2 is applied The Windows Firewall is enabled by DEFAULT

The firewall closes ports.

To check the Windows Firewall Settings...

Start>Control Panel>Windows Firewall->
Right-Click->Open
to open Windows Firewall dialog

select the General tab

If firewall is set to ON
select the Exceptions tab
this displays list of ports that have been opened (if any)

To turn firewall OFF
change selection to OFF
->OK
