I too now have the same problem. Nothing opens from the task bar. Have to use windows key to get into start menu and that is a 50/50 proposition. Now I get an error when I try do restore to an earlier restore point so no access to that and I cannot get into carbonite for my back ups. This all started when my Help -Support disappeared. Tried to fix it. Re installed sp3. Still nothing. If I restart computer. Everything is normal until I click in the task bar. Than it's back to beep and freezeville. Any ideas?
Thanks

Problem resolved with slipstream re-install

I was just playing Garrys Mod and it stopped loading, I went back out of full screen to check if maybe my internet was down. Ot wasn't, so I tried to see if Google worked, (chrome was already up) it did work, but before I could get to it I had to drag a couple windows around because it wouldn't let me use anything in the taskbar, if I clicked on something it would just beep. after a while of looking on google about this issue, I decided to try something. So I did Ctrl+Alt+Del and went into task manager, went to proccesses, clicked on ''explorer.exe'' and clicked end process.  Then I went to file and down to ''New task (run...)'' and typed in ''explorer.exe'' and tada, everything worked again. Hoping it will stay working, I literally just tried it a few mins ago, no issues so far.
