My computer locked up, I shut it off and upon restart received Virtual Memory too Low, Increasing Memory message. After clicking okay, it just sat there, over 1/2 hour. I tried Safe Mode and got the same thing. Any suggestions?

Yes, I know where your going with that, I tried it too, forgot to mention that. Same thing Virtual Memory too Low. Then it doesn't do anything, it has actually been sitting since the last post and nothing. Thanks for responding.

Yes, unless I did something wrong, it kept returning me to the Low Visual Memory message.

I think, you're doing something wrong.
Put Windows CD in, and restart computer.
At some point, you'll see: "Press any key to boot from CD".
After pressing any key, after few moments, you should see this:

I had the same problem on 12-12-08 on an old HP lap top.

I get the message "...low virtual memory..." and nothing happens

I DO NOT have my XP start up CD.

I re-boot and get as far as the colored Windows logo and three blue things moving across the loading bar and then the "Low Virt. Mem. " message and then nothing happens...
Can I do anything ???? .
..won't start in "Safe Mode" either. ...I get the 'Safe Mode' words in the corners of the screen but nothing happens after that; seems to just lock up ????

I put in the resource CD, is that the right one? I did not see a screen that said "any key to start" or anything like your post. I get the same response when I try safe mode, the virtual memory screen and safe mode in the bottom corners and across the top with some other stuff that makes now sense. I was talking to a friend and he said possibly I needed a new memory chip?

I am not using pro, I am using home. When I hit f8, I get a screen that says, start in safe mode, start at last normal start and a few other things. (Sorry I can't remember all of them) I tried Safe and Normal but got nothing.

Don't remember seeing on of those. I have one that says reinstallation cd, is that it? I will have to look through them all again. I am pretty sure the resources is what they sent me when I replaced a harddrive in another computer.

Reinstallation CD will return your computer to its original state. All personal data will be lost.

I can download anything if I can't get Windows to load. I tried the reinstallation CD, didn't work.

You can download it on another computer.
The program will boot from CD, floppy, and I believe a flashdisk. That is if you follow the instructions and download the correct one.
