Just bought headphones. but when i plug them in the sound dosent come. plugged into mp3 player and they work. also i had headphones that were a usb previously and they worked. so idk whats wrong :)

Did you check sound settings? Nothing muted there? Any errors in Device Manager?

checking back on what sound card was in my comp before. i think i deleted my. Audio Adapter ATI SB450 - High Definition Audio Controller. soundcard accidentally. any way to check/get it back if i did?

edit: actually i looked up my product on compaq's website. and am dowloading the original multimedia software that was supposed to go with the comp. will see if that works

dl'd it. wont fully install unless i dl and install Microsoft's Universal Audio Architecture High Definition audio bus driver. but ive searched and dl'd like 3 diff ones and have yet to get the first dl to work

yes, but when i go to install it. it comes up with "Microsoft Bus driver should be loaded in your system before installing Realtek HD Audio driver !" about halfway through it

In that case, download, and install Summer 2006 Original ATI Chipset Drivers, first.
