I have just got a new barebones computer that has one IDE port and four sata ports. How do you install Windows xp using a Sata Dvd/rw on a IDE harddrive or should I use a Ide rom and sata harddrive?

u don't have to replace anything. u can use IDE DVD/CD ROM either SATA DVD/CD ROM for installing o/s. Go to BIOS and set 1st boot from CD/DVD ROM then insert the Bootable O/S CD/DVD on DVD/CD drive and follow the on screen instruction.
