My AVG quit working after I did a registry repair. I have tried to uninstall it to reinstall and I get the message Installer initialization failed due to the following error:
Error: Initialization of the setup data file failed.
Opening of the setup data file "C" failed.
Error 0xe001042c

there has also been an error come up with
avgoff2k.dll and then a
dr watson postmortem debbuger comes up and I makes me close IE and restart it.
I was wondering if anyone had any idea of how I can corect this?
Thanks

thanks for the info but my computer will not let me download anything. It says windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. For some reason it is even telling me word has encountered a problem and needs to close. Is my best option now to just take my computer to a guy that works on them to let him figure out issue and correct it? I am lost now that word did that also now

Very nice :)
Since you got rid of AVG, don't forget to get some security protection for your computer.

You can use ONE of those listed below:

- Avast! free antivirus: http://filehippo.com...vast_antivirus/
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.c...load/index.html

- free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalf...all.comodo.com/

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on.
If you decide to install Comodo, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.
