We just got a new pc pre-loaded with Vista Home Premium. I (seemingly) successfully installed XP on a partition of the hard drive, but am unable to connect to the Internet from that XP partition. I get no IP info displayed when I enter IP Config from a command prompt. I have no trouble at all with the Vista OS.
Any diagnoses/suggested remedies would be much appreciated.

Download and install the drivers for the XP.
You can do this from the Vista side of things, download everything you need from the people who made the hardware inside the computer, then access them from XP.

The hardware people don't offer this machine with XP so I can't find the proper driver from them. Where to now?

Howdy and welcome to GTG:

What is the make and model of the system?

If you checked the manufacturers website and XP drivers are not available then you are probably SOL.

Should have done that BEFORE you installed xp.

Dell systems are very proprietary. After looking at your system on the Dell site, it appears they only have Vista drivers for this computer.

Sorry, but you might as well get rid of the XP partiton and start learning to live with Vista.

Thanks very much for your prompt feedback! I'm going to plead my case with Dell and see if they can possibly assist.
