Finding how long i play a game

some games have the option of seeing your savegame to see how long it has taken you to play it, which is helpful when i am writing a review or talking to my friends about the game. besides steam, is there a way or application that makes it so you can see how long it took me to beat a game?

X-fire tracks how long you were playing a game. Does require the install of its client.
