Windows firewall/warcraft 3

Hi guys, i seem to have a problem with my firewall and hosting games on bnet. everything works fine IF i turn my windows firewall off but i can't host if i have it on. Ive already tried making exceptions for warcraft 3 but that doesnt help.

So...this leads me to ask: how important is windows firewall? is it safe to just turn it off 24/7?
and what can i do to allow me to keep the firewall on and also host at the same time?
