motherboard help!

Just a quick bit of advice needed ive got a comp but the motherboard has gone on it its an msi ms-6580 need to buy a new one and use the processor from my other board but not sure wot chipset means the one on the 6580 is 845 do i need to get another 845 to fit the processor

No you just need to match the board with the processor. Keep in mind you may need to reinstall windows when a board dies as the underlying components that windows was installed on have changed. THis tends to be MORE of a problem when changing processors than motherboards but it isn't unheard of for motherboards.

So all you really need is a board that supports your processor which may be any of mutliple chipsets.
