AIM gives buffer overflow error

just got this bug last night, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling AIM (I had Version 5.5) but it didn't work, I'd like to know what I can do to fix this error

have you updated to the most recent version (6.8)?

yeah it works with the latest version but I prefer the older version of AIM over the new one

meantime I am using 5.9 till I can fix this problem
