Hello im new here and i have a question thats been bugging me for a long time now.Well the problem is im on a network with Windows XP and when i try to remotely shutdown a PC it says access denied even though im logged on as Administrator.I type this in : shutdown -s -f -m\\machine1

after i type that in it says access denied but why im Admin?

Thanks in advance for any help

ok my friend told me to try this :NET USE \\computername\IPC$/users:ADMINISTRATOR"password"

so i tried this but it said network path not found i need help please

The machine you are shutting down is HOME or PRO
Firewall on or off?

then
shutdown -s -f -m \\{computername}-t 30

okay my computer is PRO so i would have to type this: net use \\computername\IPC$/users:Administrator"password" then shutdown -i on the same line?

no...different lines

NET USE \\{computername}\IPC$ /user:administrator {password}
ENTER

you will get a reply saying the command completed successfully

THEN
type
shutdown -s -f -m \\{computername}-t 30
hit ENTER

so is there a space between the $ sign and the / sign ?

also no quotes around the password?

no, no quote marks
