Hi Guys
I have the same problem on 2 diff machines
All documents and printers are run/stored on a samba server
when the users open/save/print documents its takes an awfully long time
i have 2 antivirus programs running atm.
ive reloaded both machines, one has SP1a the other SP2
they use 7 or 8 excel documents monthly
one thing i have noticed is that while saving in excel, the saving part of the document is done normally (ie. the progress bar completes) but you cant access the document fot 15 sec after saving.
When printing the doc becomes unaccessable for app. 15 sec after.

In the log file above, beb.exe is an internet banking program,
nod is antivirus

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
Tried that and same problem persists.
Problem definatly spreading,
Another machine now has the same problem
Scanned it with nod32 and found a sober.worm variant
removed it with symantec removal tool, but still a problem
When i try to pring up the print menu
File --> Print
and try to change the selected printer it takes about 45 sec to move to the selected printer.

Inserted is the log file from the new computer after the sober removal.
Any help is as usual appreciated ;)

Hope the removal tool worked. I would run Hijack This again and post the log to the malware section of these forums.

I only pointed out the malware section because they are specialists in translating the logs and will give you a quick and accurate response

OK found the problem.
Had 2 HP printers installed on the machine.
One was installed with the supplied cd, the other added through "add Printers" in windows.
Deleted windows installed printer and installed it with jet direct, all problems solved
ie. Dialogue box for printers took ages to show, saving documents painfully slow, general network degrade.

Thanks for the help.
