I am an experienced computer user shade tree tech, I am trying to learn to create more realistic banner images for my band to use on our myspace page. i will be using photoshop cs2 could some of you experienced guys point me in the right direction

Also, you might check out places like deviantart.com

This guy has a decent tutorial (link)

The best way to learn is to use the software. Get some pictures of your band and some cool designs and just play around for 10-15 hours. You will find a lot of videos on youtube and other similar sites that could help inspire you.

its all about trial and error.
ive been doin graphic designing such [bleep] flyers,myspace layouts including div styled,mixtape covers, pretty much anything.


messing with brushes,textures,gradient maps.

Usually you can find a bunch of Tutorials on You Tube.
I'm a visual person, so I find tutorials on You Tube are typically helpful.
