New Graphics Card?

Hello all

I'm getting a shed load of money for christmas and I was thinking of getting a new gfx card. My current rig is:

AMD Athlon X2 6400+
4gb PC2 6400 RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS OC
2 X 500GB Hitachi Deskstar HDDs
Gigabyte S series motherboard (would need to check exact model)

Was wondering what you would all recommend. Was thinking of a 4870X2 as on specs it beats everything hands down, but on performance I've heard otherwise. I play games on this rig and want to be able to crank Fallout 3 up as it refuses to run on anything other then 640X480 and low setting at the moment
