Hi,

I have a problem with my mothers computer. When I start Windows I can see from the task manager that the process fssm32.exe is taking up a lot of the cpu and this seems to be blocking everything else.

After a while everything seems fine. The computer is not used that much or in a long period at a time, so I don't know if the problem occur later after a boot.

I can see that several other people here have had the same problem. I hope someone can see whats wrong in the HijackThis log I've put into this topic.

Hello Mfufu and weclome to G2G. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. fssm32.exe is a legitimate process that belongs to F-Secure. As such, there may be any number of reasons for activity during system startup. It might be checking for updates, it might be performing a system scan, or any number of other reasons. The techs in the Application Forum would be the ones to answer any questions specific to an application and its settings.

Cheers.

Thanx for the fast answer.
I've upgraded to the latest F-secure, and tried to turn of indexing of the disk as I've seen others say that might help. But it's not better. :-(

Hi Mfufu. Make sure you relate that when you post in the Application forum. This forum is for dealing with malware related issues so we do not have the techs available to deal with application related issues.

Cheers.
