I've been trying most of the night to get my PC to display Japanese characters but they are still showing as a box with four tiny numbers inside. I tried some of the fixes I found on google but they didn't work since I didn't have the Japanese option in my language settings. I tried installing it using my XP disk and still got nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this problem, I would really like to view Japanese script properly again.

with the XP disk you would go to language settings in control panel, then the languages tab and make sure the box for "install files for east asian languages" is checked...then press apply and it will install the japanese fonts
