Hi folks

I do hope you can help and if so do please post a reply for all to share.

Openning a jpeg in XP Home SP2 it opened in Microsoft Paint rather than the default Windows Pic and Fax viewer.

BUT I had freeze up of screen and keyboard. Nice pic but locked out.

I use a notebook and so had to press and hold the power button to shut down. On restart I got the blue screen + White text

The main details were: -

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

***STOP: 0x0000000A [0Xf7c21354; 0x000000FF; 0X00000001; 0X804E5619]

Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.

This screen was frozen in the countdown at 16 secs. No keyboard etc

So its the power buuton again

Then boinc ugh big time.

Dead notebook.

On pressing power up button nothing. No Post - HDD spins and DVD RW diode flashes but won't boot.

No press F2 or anything. Just a black screen.

Do you kind readers have any suggestions please? ;)

Thanks all

:tazz:

goodness.

The first thing I would do is unplug the laptop and remove the battery...then press and hold the power button for about five seconds.

Then plug it back in, insert the battery and try pressing the power button again...

Hello qerryf

thank you for this.

No joy - removed battery and mains - held power button for well over 5 secs.

Put batt back and pressed go. Nothing. Same symptoms ie attempted to read HDD and DVD then reverted to coma mode with HDD spinning.

Oddly when I turned it over to lesten to check the sound of the HDD this caused the DVD to try and read. Diode light on fr say 15 secs.

I have 2 thoughts. Dust = short or screw loose (like me).

I sit it on a notebook cooler and the internal fan only occasionally runs when ocassionally there is heavy processor demand. Temp floats around 32 deg C.

Thanks for the help.
