Vista Boots with no desktop

Hi, for whatever reason when i load in my computer i have to wait and stare for 1 minute at a black screen until my desktop items appear. This is because my processes are loading in AFTER the computer has booted. I can't seem to find how to fix this. Can anyone help me. Thanks you help has been appreciated.
