Rip a CD (without WMP11!)

I received a new CD for Christmas (Avenged Sevenfold's self-titled) and I want to rip it to my computer. I know Windows Media Player has the rip function, but I have to be honest; I'm sure there are better ways to rip a CD. Would anyone mind sharing?
