When I turn my laptop on, the power lights up but the screen remains black. The computer is unresponsive if I push any keys or buttons. The battery life lights up as well as the numlock and capslock symbols but those three lights go away so the power light is the only one still lit up. What can I do to get my computer to turn on?

Does it act like it's booting up? hook it up to external monitor and see if you can get anything to come up on external monitor. Also does it complitely stays blank or just very dark. Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen and see if you can see anything.
