can't delete directories and files

hi, forum members. i am trying to delete a directory, its subdirectories, and one or two files. Windows says that it can't find a file, so it will not complete the delete. Is there some way I can make Windows go ahead and delete this group? I really don't care if the file is there or not, I just want to clean some stuff of the hard drive. Thanks for your comments.
